With a dedication to synthesis and deep listening, the seeds for
New Works were sown during a 2019 residency in Detroit. For
V. VECKER, this marked a shift — a movement from the world of jazz into realms of the electronic.
Followed by nearly half a year on the road,
New Works began to take shape.
V. VECKER's improvisational approach meant that straying from the original arrangements would not only be inevitable, but encouraged — a welcome transformation of accident into interest.
In the culminating recording, waves of tenor saxophone emerge and recede, each layer gently supplanting its predecessor.
New Works is an exploration of granularity and resynthesis — an emergency transmission with no cause for alarm; a pulsating iteration that breaks itself free of the closed circle.
